It was truly a dream to photograph this backyard wedding in Seattle. Emma and Ryan got married surrounded by their closest family and friends in the backyard of the brides childhood home. It was a unique day from start to finish.

Emma and I actually went to High School together. She’s an incredible artist, check out her work! I am in shock that she reached out and asked me if I was available to photograph her wedding. It was such an honor and I had so much fun being a part of their day.

They really made the day their own which helps add so much character to photos. Adding special items like Emma’s Grandpa’s vintage car, a hand embroidered sweater, old photos, wearing a green dress etc. made the day that much more unique.

I love how Emma and Ryan chose to do a day before session. This allowed them to do their portraits with no strict day of timeline. Plus this gave us a chance for them to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding. The day of the wedding seemed to fly by and I know it was important to them to hang out with their friends and family instead of spending that time taking bridal portraits. There are so many ways you can structure your wedding and I hope this gives you insight on how you can “bend” the rules and truly create a day that is structured just for you.
